Chirinos Added to Cubs 40-Man Roster

2010 Southern League All-Star Robinson Chirinos

Hey Smokies Fans!

Earlier this week, former Smokies catcher and 2010 Southern League All-Star Robinson Chirinos received some outstanding news, as he was named to the Chicago Cubs 40-man roster.

Chirinos had a banner year in 2010 with the Smokies, hitting .318 with 15 homers and 64 runs batted in while leading Tennessee to first and second half North Division titles. Chirinos finished the season in Triple-A with the Iowa Cubs, where he hit .364.

For more on Chirinos and his move to the 40-man roster, here is the official release from the Cubs: link.

Congratulations to Robinson on making the 40-man roster, and best of luck to him as he fights for a roster spot in Spring Training with Mike Quade’s 2011 Chicago Cubs.
