The Tennessee Smokies aim to get back on the winning track at home on Thursday, facing the Birmingham Barons in the third game of the series at Smokies Park at 7:15 p.m.
Yesterday the Barons blanked the Smokies, winning 11-0 while Tennessee was limited to a pair of hits in the contest.
Tonight Tennessee will send right-hander Trey McNutt to the mound. McNutt is 4-6 with a 4.11 ERA this season. Starting for the Barons is left-hander Spencer Arroyo, who is 1-0 with 1.80 ERA.
Kids better bring their appetite at the 7:15 game on Thursday, as kids 12-and-under, with paid admission, will receive a free hot dog, small soda and bad of chips, courtesy of Q93 FM. After the game, kids can run the bases like the Smokies, thanks to Shoney’s. Bring your jars or Food City receipts showing proof of purchase of Peter Pan Peanut Butter so you can purchase a ticket and receive another for free, presented by Food City. It’s another Pilot Prize Night so everyone will go home a winner. Bring your ID or pay stub to the box office if you’re a resident or employee of Knox County, as you can receive a $2 discount on any regular priced field level or bleacher ticket, presented by the Knoxville News Sentinel and CW20.
Fans can listen to the game on the Smokies Radio Network, with the “Voice of the Smokies” Mick Gillispie entering his sixth season as Tennessee’s Director of Broadcasting. The 2010 Southern League Broadcaster of the Year is assisted by Cody Chrusciel, Roger Hoover, Jonathan Guess, and Adam King.
