Right-handed starting pitcher Dae-Eun Rhee has been transferred to Triple-A Iowa from Tennessee. The South Korea native is the sixth 2014 Smokie to be promoted to the Triple-A level this season, and posted a 5-4 record and 3.27 ERA (38 ER in 104.2 IP) in his 18 games (16 starts) with Tennessee, ranking tenth in the Southern League in earned-run average at the time of the transaction.

Rhee is expected to start and make his Triple-A debut for the I-Cubs this evening against the Omaha Storm Chasers in Omaha, Nebraska. Other Smokies that have gone on to play for the Triple-A squad this year include infielders Jonathan Mota and Kris Bryant, catcher Rafael Lopez, and relievers Armando Rivero and Arodys Vizcaino.
