JACKSONVILLE 4, BIRMINGHAM 1: The Barons lost their second straight and fifth in their last six games. Jacksonville scored all their runs in the 6th inning including RBI triples by Danny Black and Derek Dietrich. Dan Black hit a solo home run for Birmingham in a losing effort.
Tonight’s Starters: BIR: Chris Beck (0-1, 4.50) JAX: Adam Conley (11-5, 3.38)
MISSISSIPPI 5, PENSACOLA 3: Mississippi scored three times in the 1st inning and added insurance in the middle innings to win the series opener. Christian Bethencourt went 2-for-4 with a home run and Tommy La Stella drove in two runs.
Tonight’s Starters: MIS: Gus Schlosser (6-4, 2.37) PNS: Tim Crabbe (6-8, 3.44 ERA)
HUNTSVILLE 4, MOBILE 3: Mike Walker hit a go-ahead, two-run triple in the bottom of the 7th to give Huntsville the 4-3 victory. Mobile had taken the lead in the 5th inning thanks to home runs by Keon Broxton and Ender Inciarte, but Walker’s triple proved to be the difference as David Goforth earned his second save of the season.
Tonight’s Starters: MOB: Andrew Chafin (9-6, 2.73) HVL: Taylor Jungmann (9-7, 3.72)
JACKSON 2, MONTGOMERY 1 (14): John Hicks scored on a fielding error by Robby Price in the 14th inning to give the Generals the win. Jabari Blash put Jackson in front in the 5th inning with a solo home run and Cameron Seitzer tied the game in the 8th with an RBI double. The Generals bullpen combined to throw 5.2 innings of scoreless baseball.
