Tied at 6-6 against the Chattanooga Lookouts in the bottom of the ninth inning, Javier Baez hit the go-ahead home run for the second night in a row. This time, it was a walk-off blast over the party deck in left field of Smokies Park. The two-run shot was Baez’s 31st home run of the season and his 14th since joining Tennessee on July 6. Baez sits at second in all of Minor League baseball with his 31 home runs.

[…] SS Javier Baez did it again. He went 2 for 4 with a walk with the big hit being a 2-run HR in the 9th that broke a 6-6 time. It was his 14th HR and although Baez has played just 38 games in what has been around 120 in the Southern League for the season so far, he ranks 9th in HRs and is just 6 away from the league leader, who has almost 300 more PAs. If he had enough PAs to qualify, he'd lead the league in slugging by 148 points and OPS by 82 points. He's hitting .293/.355/.631 with 14 HRs, an above average 8.7% walk rate and even his K rate has dropped to 28.5% overall.
