Saturday Kris Bryant received the Joe Black MVP award for his excellence in the Arizona Fall League. Bryant had an amazing fall that was not closely contested by any other player in league. The 21-year-old Las Vegas native is the first Cubs prospect to be honored with the award since Sam Fuld in 2007. Bryant led the league in homeruns with six, slugging at .727, extra-base hits with 15, runs scoring 22 times, and total bases with 56. Bryant also batted .364, good enough for fifth in the league, was named a starter in the annual Fall Star game, and reached base safely in all 20 regular season games he played in. This was just another notch in the belt of the Cubs second overall pick in the 2013 draft. Since joining the Cubs organization Bryant has quickly moved through three levels of the club, batting .336 to go along with nine homeruns and 32 RBIs in only 36 games in the rookie, short season Class-A, and High-A leagues. When added to his numbers in this fall, as a professional ball player Bryant in hitting a tremendous .346 while swatting 15 homers, 22 doubles and three triples, driving in 49 runs and scoring another 44 runs, with a .417 on-base percentage in 56 games. Anything can happen and the while the future looks bright for this young man, there are too many unknowns to predict the future. However there is one thing that is clear and requires no predictions what so ever; the kid can play.
