On June 28, 1986, history was made when 47-year-old Phil Niekro (pictured, left) met 41-year-old Don Sutton (right) in a match-up at Anaheim Stadium. When Niekro’s Cleveland Indians met Sutton’s California Angels, it marked the first time in 94 years two 300-game winners faced off against each other.
Mick Gillispie told the story of the historic match-up during the sixth inning of Tennessee’s game with the Jackson Generals on Saturday.
