Rex Barney is perhaps best known as the public address announcer for the Baltimore Orioles and his iconic phrase, “Give that fan a contract!” Before that, however, Barney was also a Major League pitcher with the Brooklyn Dodgers. On May 23rd, 1951, at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, Texas (pictured), Barney had a disastrous outing that changed his destiny as a ball player.
