Smokies starting pitcher Pierce Johnson blanked Huntsville over four innings to extend his scoreless innings streak to 19.0 frames, while relievers Matt Loosen, Andrew McKirahan and Frank Batista combined to shut out the Stars 2-0 and keep Tennessee in first place in front of 6,556 fans on Friday night at Smokies Stadium.
Despite taking a 2-0 lead in the second, the Smokies dropped the opener of a five game series against the Stars in Huntsville 6-4 on Wednesday night at Joe W. Davis Municipal Stadium.
