Lee Elia Interview Series Part One Tonight

Hey Smokies Fans!

We’re excited to announce that tonight will we will air the first part of Mick Gillispie’s four interview series with former Chicago Cubs manager Lee Elia.

Elia is now in his second season with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization as the Special Assistant to the General Manager. Elia played for the Chicago White Sox in 1966 and the Chicago Cubs in 1968. He went on to work as a coach in the Phillies, Yankees, Blue Jays, Devil Rays, and Orioles organizations. He managed the Cubs from 1982-83, and the Phillies from 1987-88.

Here’s the schedule for this Smokies Radio Network exclusive interview series with Lee Elia:

Part One: May 3 vs. Lookouts: Introduction and Elia’s career as a Chattanooga Lookout.

Part Two: May 7 vs. BayBears: Thoughts on the Smokies and Phillies Career.

Part Three: May 12 vs. Mudcats: Elia’s time as manager of the Chicago Cubs and the infamous April 29, 1983 “Tirade”

Part Four: May 17 vs. Stars: Conclusion and Elia’s Career in Baseball.

All the interviews will take place during the Pilot-Oscar Mayer Pregame Show, which will begin at 7 p.m. for all the games in the Lee Elia Interview Series.
