JACKSON 8, CHATTANOOGA 0: The Lookouts were shutout for the fourth time in six games as James Gillheeney tossed 5.1 scoreless innings.  Leading 3-0 in the 7th inning, the Generals put the game out of reach with five runs highlighted by a three-run home run by Denny Almonte.  Ji-Man Choi also homered in the game and was 3-for-5.

Tonight’s Starters: JXN: Roenis Elias (5-8, 2.87 ERA) CHA: Duke von Schamman (2-2, 3.02 ERA)

MISSISSIPPI 8, PENSACOLA 3: The Braves scored in each of the first three innings and won their second straight game.  The first six hitters in Mississippi’s lineup tallied at least two hits including three from leadoff man Mycal Jones.

Tonight’s Starters: PNS: Daniel Renken (3-7, 3.77 ERA) MIS: Gus Schlosser (6-2, 2.36 ERA)

BIRMINGHAM 3, MOBILE 1: In a battle between two playoff-bound teams, the Barons pulled within a half game of first in the North Division with a 3-1 victory.  Birmingham broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the bottom of the 7th.  Newly acquired Brandon Jacobs hit a two-run single off reliever Blake Cooper to put the Barons on top.

Tonight’s Starters: MOB: Bo Schultz (3-2, 2.93 ERA) BIR: Stephen McCray (9-6, 3.56 ERA)
