A former Smokie, Justin Bour, made his debut for the Miami Marlins yesterday starting as the designated hitter and he did not disappoint going 2-for-5 with an RBI in their 11-6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. Bour was a 25th round draft pick in the 2009 draft and played for the Smokies for two seasons (2012-13).
In his two years in Kodak he played in 221 games belting 35 home runs with 174 RBIs, 53 doubles, with a .265 batting average and had a stellar .457 slugging percentage. His best season at Smokies park was in 2012 where he played in 138 games hitting .283 with 17 home runs and driving in 110 RBIs. He also helped pace the team to the playoffs last year.
Over the offseason he was a Triple-A Rule 5 draft pick by the Marlins, and performed extremely well for New Orleans hitting .330 and was tied for the team lead in home runs with nine before his promotion to the big leagues
