The Smokies were stifled again by Birmingham Barons pitching as they lost 7-1 last night and lost the series. They have a chance to salvage the final game as they are expected to start at Regions Field at 8:05 p.m. ET tonight.

Myles Jaye pitched a complete game gem for the Barons against Tennessee earning him his first win on the season. With the loss, the Smokies fell 0.5 games behind Birmingham for first place. Jorge Soler was the only player on Tennessee to drive in a run as he blasted a home run, his second of the season, in the ninth inning.

The Smokies are expected to start RHP Eduardo Figueroa (0-0, 4.43). In his last start on July 3, Figueroa was masterful pitching six innings only allowing a run on three hits while striking out three. This will be his first appearance against the Barons on the season.

Birmingham looks to counter with LHP Scott Snodgress (5-6, 4.05) who is making his fourth appearance against Tennessee this season. He has pitched 18 innings allowing seven runs on 25 hits while striking out seven earning one win and one loss. Snodgress was phenomenal in his last start on July 3 pitching seven innings allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out two earning the win. He has also won two of his last three starts.

Fans can listen to the broadcast on the Smokies Baseball Network, with the “Voice of the Smokies” Mick Gillispie. Gillispie is assisted by Greg Young, Keith Brake, Sean Sullivan, Boomer Dangel, Andrew Clare and James Rowe. The Pilot/Oscar Meyer Pre-game Show will begin at 7:50 p.m. ET.
